Business Development Coordinator, Geneva or Zurich

Schellenberg Wittmer is currently looking for a Business Development Coordinator (80-100%) to work in its integrated Marketing / Communications and BD team.

Reporting to the COO, Head of Marketing and the firm's Business Development Partner, you will work together with the Marketing team in supporting the business growth initiatives firm-wide (this position supports the firm's Geneva, Zurich and Singapore's offices) and developing and implementing the day-to-day Business Development activities in support of the attorneys at individual, practice group and firm levels.

This position is to be based in our Geneva or Zurich offices with regular travels to the other.

 Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Execute various attorneys' Business Development related requests;
  • Provide full support to attorneys in the preparation of materials for pitches or client/prospect meetings: research relevant mandates, draft and format presentations, research for any relevant additional information, etc.;
  • Develop and keep up-to-date a pitch and proposal repository (maintaining information on CV's, firm/lawyer credentials and deal information);
  • Perform the maintenance of the referral/correspondents/clients' database;
  • Support the organization of firm events, and assist with relevant aspect of participation at various external events, conferences and trade shows;
  • Maintain an international peer network in the context of Business Development and partners relationships;
  • Together with the IBA partner, coordinate the firm's IBA participation, including all of the firm's peer network meetings;
  • Research potential sponsorship opportunities for the firm, practice groups and attorneys, make necessary arrangements for sponsorship execution;
  • Provide regular updates to attorneys on requested Business Development related matters.

Key skills and Experience required:   

  • You have a legal education/background with ideally further education in marketing and/or in sales;
  • You have prior experience at an international level, preferably in the legal industry;
  • You like working in a fast paced and client-facing role;
  • You can prioritize and juggle multiple tasks;
  • You have proven project management skills;
  • You are resilient, service oriented and take ownership for your work;
  • You are a reliable team-player with the ability to build trust and respect amongst colleagues;
  • You are curious, open-minded, proactive, and you are a strong communicator with the ability to influence;
  • English is your mother tongue (or fully equivalent) and you have a good command of French and/or German;
  • You have strong IT skills, and very good knowledge of PPT, Word, Excel (relevant certificate is a plus);
