Business Development Manager, Geneva

Schellenberg Wittmer is currently looking for a Business Development Manager (80-100%) to work in its integrated Marketing / Communications and BD team.

Reporting to the COO and the firm's Business Development Partner, you will work together with the Marketing team in supporting the business growth initiatives firm-wide (this position supports the firm's Geneva, Zurich and Singapore's offices) and developing and implementing the day-to-day Business Development activities in support of the attorneys at individual, practice group and firm levels.

This position is based in our offices in Geneva with travels to our Zurich offices.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify, in collaboration with the COO and the Business Development Partner, high priority Business Development projects and implement Business Development initiatives;
  • Provide regular monitorship of Business Development activities results and/or continuous updates of progress against the plan;
  • Provide full support to attorneys on the preparation of materials for pitches or client/prospect meetings;
  • Develop and keep up-to-date a pitch and proposal repository (maintaining information on CV's, firm/lawyer credentials and deal information);
  • Conduct market research and identify prospects/key contacts;
  • Perform the maintenance of the referral/correspondents/clients' database;
  • Proactively research and review clients, competitors and industry market trends to ensure attorneys have the best available market intelligence to support Business Development activities;
  • Identify high priority events, and execute and coordinate various aspects of such events, conferences and trade shows;
  • Develop and maintain an international peer network in the context of Business Development.

Key skills and Experience required:   

  • You have a legal education/background (a bar admission is a plus) with ideally further education in marketing and/or in sales;
  • You have experience in Sales or Business Development at an international level, preferably in the legal industry, incl. in implementing and/or managing a CRM solution;
  • You like working in a client-facing and fast paced role;
  • English is your mother tongue (or fully equivalent) and you have a good command of  French and/or German;
  • You have strong IT and data analytical skills, and are fully at ease with numbers and statistics;
  • You can prove project management skills with an aptitude for developing these skills;
  • You are fun to work with and like what you do;
  • You are reliable and a team-player with the ability to build trust and respect amongst colleagues;
  • You are curious, open-minded, proactive and keen to learn, and you are a strong communicator with the ability to influence.
