Schellenberg Wittmer advised on the sale of Metaco, a Swiss-based provider of digital asset custody and tokenization technology, to Ripple.

Ripple, the leader in enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions, serves hundreds of customers in over 55 countries and 6 continents with payout capabilities in 70+ markets. With this acquisition of Metaco in a transaction valued at USD 250 million, Ripple adds institutional digital asset custody capabilities to its products solutions.

The team of Schellenberg Wittmer acted as Swiss legal counsel to the shareholders of Metaco. The Schellenberg Wittmer team consisted of Jean Jacques Ah Choon (Corporate/M&A / overall lead), Philippe Nicod and Alexander Zundel (Corporate/M&A), Vincent Carron and Catherine Weniger (Employment), Jean-Frédéric Maraia and Arthur Magnin (Taxation).
