Michael Nordin is a partner at Schellenberg Wittmer's Zurich office, where he heads the tax practice. He advises clients on the tax aspects of M&A transactions, reorganisations and restructurings, as well as financing and capital markets transactions, with a strong focus on clients from the financial industry. He also provides tailored advice to high-net-worth individuals and families (HNWI) on succession planning and wealth structuring. His practice further encompasses negotiations with tax authorities and litigation before courts.

  • Advising domestic and foreign financial institutions on the refund of Swiss withholding tax in connection with structured financial products
  • Advising a financial institution on an internal reorganisation, including negotiations with the competent tax authorities on the tax treatment of an offshore structure
  • Tax advice to a multinational Swiss company in connection with a major acquisition and subsequent restructuring
  • Representing a major Swiss financial institution in tax litigation
  • Representing a multinational family in complex cross-border tax proceedings, including coordination with foreign advisors and tax authorities
